- You carpets should be vacuumed frequently and thoroughly. A huge percent of carpet damage is caused from dirt build up. Oily dirt attracts more dirt and frequent vacuuming will reduce soil build up.
- Don’t let stains, sort stains out as soon as they happen to prevent permanent damage to the carpet. 99% of all stains can be removed by one cleaning agent or another if they are cleaned as soon as they happen.
- Before scrubbing a carpet, do a small test to see if the carpet reacts to certain products.
- Use appropriate spotters starting with the mildest. Do not use harsh spotting agents unless absolutely necessary and always neutralize high alkaline or high acid cleaners after use.
- Don’t dig or brush dirt spots. The correct way is to scape the spots towards the middle and then pads the spot with a white towel or cloth.
- Don’t overdo it with the detergents, shampoos or spotters. Too Much detergent will result in residual left in the carpet that even thorough vacuuming may not remove.
- Never over-wet your carpets when cleaning. Over-wetting can cause brownout, carpet shrinkage, adhesion problems and all sorts of nightmares.
- Used a door mat and remove your shoes.
